Minsk’s technical death metal quartet Irreversible Mechanism have announced a new album to be released by Blood Music internationally this coming Fall. The band will see the release of “Immersion” on September 14, 2018. Pre-orders for the new album are available across CD and LP formats via Blood Music.
Irreversible Mechanism are streaming the first new track off “Immersion”. The track, a sprawling, aggressive death metal opus titled “Absolution” is streaming now as a music video via Metal Sucks.
Regarding the track, guitarist Andrew Parmón comments, “Our new record is a concept album, so this song is just a part of the whole story. This chapter is about what comes after creation, about the vision of this infinite, painful, in some way, circle of life. It’s about the sacrifice as a first step of creation. Sacrifice, which stands before something new, something beautiful. Here we’re not interested in finding the answer to “how things turned out this way?”, but to try to find the right question”.
Parmón continues, “We’re so excited about this album, the whole band put so much effort in it with so much creativity. Every track of the new album is a new level for each musician and for the whole band. Musically, we’d say, it’s very experimental, from composing and guitar tone to the vocals and sound effects we tried to explore other ways to create atmosphere, to show how we want to sound right now, the vision of our music in that particular moment. It was very challenging and we’re really proud of that we’ve done. It’s far more deep and personal than our previous work. Lyrically, we tried to cover the themes of the fundamental laws of the universe, isolation, time, reality, freedom. Being on different sides of the conflict (if we could say so). Which we never done before. “
“Immersion” follows the release of the band’s stellar, highly sought-after debut, “Infinite Fields” (2015), which was originally hailed as “the kind of record that will be worshipped by fans of the genre, who I’ve noticed across the internet have already been latching onto it with a fervor I can appreciate” (No Clean Singing). “Immersion” sees the band expand on the creativity and aggression of their musicality, propelling to new heights.
Coming off the band’s hyped debut, Irreversible Mechanism not only won the “Best Guitar Performance” award in their native Belarusian annual music awards, they were also hailed internationally as the next coming of Necrophagist, putting them firmly at the top of the list of tech death newcomers.
Irreversible Mechanism’s sophomore album propels the band leagues forward, ascending effortlessly between intense progressive death metal and extraterrestrial ambiance.
The band’s signature symphonic sound builds like a freight train through a sea of terror and reflection. “Immersion” marks the arrival of unstoppable fury, entering with a masterful sense of space, clarity, melody, and emotion.
The additions of clean vocal highlights appear with tasteful application as a counterpoint, vast ambient soundscapes paint an alien world for the band to traverse and destroy, epic guitar leads soar over the writhing maelstrom of beauty and chaos, and electronic pulses creep up which offer a breath of calm.
Adding Dan Presland (Ne Obliviscaris) on drums for the album was the final touch.
The result is a contender for the best album in today’s progressive death metal world.
Irreversible Mechanism “Immersion” stands as a bold statement, challenging and eclipsing genre heavyweights Rivers of Nihil and Fallujah, and ushering in a new era of progressive and technical death metal.
