Colorado metallic punk & sludge legion Call Of The Void are back! Today they announce their blistering new full-length titled, “Buried In Light” along with a premiere of the catchy, black-sludge & mind melting anthem, “Living Ruins”. The track is streaming now at Decibel Magazine.

“This is a concept record on what drives people to walk away from everything, what drives them to blind servitude, isolation, and suicide in a seemingly ‘perfect’ world,” drummer Gordon Koch explains. “Each song serves as a vignette into the events that push you over the edge and push you away from society as a whole. We are speaking from the heart, from personal experiences, the study of modern apocalypse cults and the people affected by them.”

Pulling inspiration from personal events that crushed spirits and zooming in on humanity’s ability to fall deeply into isolation and blind servitude,  Call Of The Void have created thirteen anthems of callous rage, pushing the band to the next level of absolute metallic sludge perfection.

Colorado heavyweights Call Of The Void have returned with Buried In Light, their third and most crushing full-length album to date. Buried In Light presents the band weaving a truly disturbing tale of valuing death over life and the willingness to give it all up.

Buried In Light is a concept record about what drives people to walk away from everything – from blind servitude or to suicide in a seemingly “perfect” world. Each song serves as a vignette into the events that push humans over the edge and the situations that push people away from society as a whole. “What drives a person to reject everything and choose death? We find ourselves surrounded by everything we have but it’s still insufferable to be alive”, explains drummer Gordon Koch. “We looked at ourselves and the vulnerability of humanity to shed our own light on and into the emotional upheaval that pushes people over the edge, those who have abandoned society, and those who have taken their own lives.”

Call Of The Void have elevated their metallic punk style and fused it with blackened sludge grooves and their own brand of rage-filled anthems. With help from Dave Otero at Flatline Studios and Andy Patterson at Boars Nest Studio, Buried In Light shows how dynamically callous Call Of The Void can be. “Recording With Andy Patterson is almost like a needed break from the world” explains Koch. “He helps guide you to the performance you need while capturing some of the heaviest noises in an extremely positive environment. We have been recording with him for over 12 years now so we consider him family.” Koch continues, “Dave Otero is a magnificent engineer and producer who channels our energy and ideas and turns them into “that sound”. His vocal coaching alone with worth the visit to his studio, where his mixing and mastering is what currently makes COTV sound like COTV. Both Andy and Dave are integral parts of the band and our success, we love them dearly.”

Buried In Light features new album artwork by Brian D’Agosta and is available for pre-order now via Translation Loss Records on LP, compact disc, and digital.

Biography:
Colorado’s Call Of The Void originally formed in Boulder as the duo “Ironhorse” in 2007 by Gordon Koch and Patrick Alberts. They found firm footing in 2011 after the addition of bassist Alex Pace and vocalist Steve Vanica, playing a furious mix of punk, hardcore and grind. Soon the quintet began playing local shows beside heavy hitters like Gaza and Cattle Decapitation almost immediately, and signed to Relapse in late 2012 before even releasing a single record.

Call Of The Void released their debut album “Dragged Down a Dead End Path” in early 2013 and quickly received copious praise from publications such as Pitchfork, Metal Hammer, and Invisible Oranges. Upholding its reputation for devastating live performances, the band appeared at Denver Black Sky, Scion Rock Fest and SXSW in 2013. Call Of The Void have toured the continental US, appearing alongside Today Is The Day, Eyehategod, The Acacia Strain and Relapse colleagues Ringworm, Inter Arma, Weekend Nachos and Primitive Man.

The band dropped its second full length “Ageless” in February 2015, earning praise from the likes of Metal Hammer, Decibel, New Noise, and MetalSucks. After a lineup change, multiple tours with friends Inter Arma, Pig Destroyer, and an appearance at South West Terror Fest; Call Of The Void settled down to record their EP “AYFKM”. Released December 2016 on Translation Loss, “AYFKM” was a short but furious collection of songs moving the bands sonic evolution closer to their current form. Garnering praise from Noisey, Metal Sucks, Decibel Magazine, the band quickly took to the road back to SXSW touring with Power Trip and Iron Reagan. Soon they would be asked to perform alongside their personal heroes TRAPTHEM for their final West Coast and East Coast tours, an appearance at both Austin Terror Fest and North West Terror fest and finally another tour with the mighty PIG DESTROYER, Despise You and Necrot. The band then took a year off to write and finally record their third full-length LP, “Buried In Light”. Recorded in August of 2018 at both The Boars Nest in Salt Lake City, UT and Flatline Audio in Denver Colorado, “Buried In Light” is a massive movement for Call Of The Void. Pulling from history and personal stories of an unforgiving life in a confusing world, “Buried In Light” is a concept album on the human psyche and what drives us to breathe…or cease to be.
