Earlier in 2023, Minneapolis atmospheric black metal legion Ashbringer announced their new partnership with Translation Loss Records. Today, the band announce that September 29, 2023 will be the official release date of “We Came Here To Grieve”. The first release since the bands 2019 release of “Absolution”, will include 10 new tracks showing the band on a mission to re-establish themselves by acknowledging their past but with an intention leap forward – showing an unmatched discovery of self-awareness and how multi-faceted the band can be. “We Came Here To Grieve” is available for pre-order on two vinyl variants via Translation Loss Records today.

Along with the album announcement and pre-order, the band have shared a new track from the album titled, “Pages”.  The song is displayed in the form of a music video which was created by the band. About the song and album announcement, Ashbringer shares:

“As we began writing for this upcoming album, “Pages” was the first track we put together. It did not take more than a few weeks of us working on it to establish how exciting the rest of the process would be for us. As we feel this upcoming album represents our ‘mission statement’ in terms of what we are able to accomplish as a group and what kind of vision we have for the immediate future, this song would easily be considered to us as the ‘tag-line’.”

The video and track is streaming now at Invisible Oranges

Ashbringer, established 2014 by Nick Stanger with solo-debut LP Vacant (Avantgarde Music),  quickly found itself having a strong passion for touring the United States and Canada with a full lineup. Having embarked on a path paved by elements of atmospheric black metal with woodland-instrumental flares, the group has expanded their horizon through their second and third studio releases Yūgen (2016, Avant Garde Music, Vendetta)and Absolution (2019, Prosthetic). These years in the studio and on the road with a now finalized lineup have allowed Ashbringer to evolve into a sound unto their own, utilizing sound palettes from their entire discography and brand new elements to craft their new mission statement release, We Came Here To Grieve.
